RELATIONS
My piece Relations (11"x15", Ink. February 2020) creates a conversation between wants and what is necessary. I felt as though I was unable to express my interest in a specific style as my classes at the time were focused on building up fundamental skills that I would benefit from in the future. Relations is how I expressed this tension between the fundamentals I was working on and the style that I wanted to pursue but couldn't at the time.
My stylistic choices reference the style of Polish artist Zdzislaw Beksinski and his many surreal works. His work Untitled was the core inspiration for Relations as I used the basic structure of Beksinski’s piece but still managed to alter it enough to create a different meaning.

This project was completed using the photo emulsion method of screenprinting.
This is the original sketch for Relations before I separated the piece into several different players for proper printing.
